How to know if someone has blocked you on Telegram?

Telegram is one of the most popular messaging platforms available today. It is used to quickly contact your family, friends and colleagues. Like many other applications that offer communication services, Telegram gives you the option to block specific users. But there is no clear way to know if someone has blocked you on Telegram. However, there are some tips to help you determine if someone has blocked you.

1. Messages are not delivered

When you send a message on Telegram, it displays a small check mark next to your text. This means that the person has received the message but has not yet seen it.

When the user who received the message opens the chat and sees the message, the single check mark changes to two check marks. This is how you know that the person has read your message and that you may receive a reply.

However, if only one checkmark accompanies your text for a long time - and you know that the recipient checks their messages regularly - it may mean that they have blocked you.

2. Unusual activity status

You can also view their activity status. Depending on your privacy settings and those of other users, Telegram shows the estimated date and time when someone was last online. However, if you do not allow others to see your activity status, you will not be able to see their activity status either.

If a user's status is listed as "seen a long time ago" instead of "online" or an estimated time since they were last online, they have probably blocked you. But in reality, there will be people who really haven't used Telegram in a while, or they've hidden their activity status. So this is not an accurate indicator that they have blocked you.

3. The profile picture changes back to the user's initials

When you create an account on Telegram, you can use the photo of your choice as your profile picture or any of the stickers and emojis provided by Telegram. Otherwise, the application uses your initials on a randomly selected colored background in a similar way to Gmail. If a person's photo suddenly changes from their usual photo to their initials, it may mean they have blocked you.

However, if a user's profile picture is never updated from the default initials, it's hard to say if they have blocked you.

How to block a user on Telegram?

You can block users in two ways.

One is to click on your chat with them, then click on their profile picture, and finally click on the three dots in the upper right corner where you will find "Block user".

The second way is to go to "Settings", then "Privacy and Security", then "Blocked Users". Here you can choose to click on the person whose chat you want to block.
